What To Avoid Before and After Your Treatment

To get the most out of your appointment and optimize your results, you should cease certain activities and medications before your treatment and in the days following.

Before Your Appointment

Leading up to your appointment, you should avoid the following substances (if they are prescribed by your physician, check with them before discontinuing):

• Alcohol
• Blood-thinning medication
• Muscle relaxers
• Topical steroids
• Aspirin, ibuprofen, and other NSAIDs
• St. John’s wort
• Supplements containing vitamin E
• Fish oil supplements with omega-3

After Your Treatment

Post-treatment, we will ask that you:

• Don’t drink alcohol for at least 24 hours
• Avoid heavy exercise for 24 to 48 hours
• Don’t rub or massage the treatment area for 48 hours
• Avoid extreme heat and direct sunlight for 48 hours
• Avoid facials for 5 days

What Is Recovery Like?

Typically, most patients don’t need any downtime after their injectable treatment. You may experience some mild swelling and bruising at the injection site, but these symptoms should subside quickly.
