Meet Dr. Anitha Shrikhande

Dr. Anitha Shrikhande

Anitha Shrikhande, MD, MPH, is a board-certified allergy and immunology specialist who specializes in adult and pediatric care. She especially loves the challenges of treating skin conditions that cross the spectrum of dermatology and allergy, where understanding the immune system can help uncover the causes of persistent or complex skin concerns.

For Dr. Shrikhande, effective care starts with listening. She values hearing each patient’s story, understanding how symptoms affect daily life, and using current best practices to develop appropriate, individualized treatment plans. Her clinical interests include urticaria (hives), contact dermatitis, asthma, allergic rhinitis, and other allergic and immunologic conditions.

Communication and education are central to Dr. Shrikhande’s approach. She believes patients benefit from understanding their condition, the treatments supported by current medical evidence, and research that is still evolving. By communicating openly about medical advances and limitations, Dr. Shrikhande strives to build trusting relationships and help patients take an active role in their care.

Dr. Shrikhande was drawn to allergy and immunology because the specialty touches so many areas of medicine. Her interest began during her immunology coursework in medical school. It was strengthened by her experiences during her internal medicine residency, which consisted of 3 years of training in adult and pediatric care. This was followed by a 2-year fellowship in allergy and immunology, encompassing both pediatric and adult patients. This broad training enables Dr. Shrikhande to evaluate allergic and immune-related conditions across different ages and organ systems.

Outside of the office, Dr. Shrikhande enjoys traveling with her family, listening to all types of music, and reading fiction. She is also happiest around the water and enjoys just about anything beach-related.
